Mechanical & Piping Designers Forum

I have several years on and offshore oil, gas, petrochem. and pharmaceutical piping design experience in this country and 5 years site based project engineering management experience on three major international oil/gas pipeline and plant construction projects in the Middle East. I qualified to Higher National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Brighton where Computer Aided Engineering was a main subject of study. I also have had several years design/drafting experience in Mechanical, E&l, HV&AC, Building Services, Structural steelwork, Architectural and Civil and / have recently completed the PDMS Piping Design CAD course at Richmond College London being familiar with relevant ASME, ASTM, British and European design and drafting Standards.

30 years experience in the design of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems. Apprenticed in the H&V manufacturing industry, working on both design and contracting. DO Supervisor and Section Leader. Experience from 1977 has been within the Off-Shore Industry; Projects have included drilling, production and accommodation modules. Site experience has included two periods at fabrication yards and Offshore survey trips. Engineering of HVAC Systems to Drilling Facilities; inc’ Philosophies, Calculations & Specifications etc. CAD experience over 15 years includes 3D-Modelling and Clash Checking, G.A’s. from Cad model, HVAC iso’s and 2D flow sheets & D&ID’s,.

18 Years Structural/Mechanical Design & Build in subsea/diving/marine/shipbuilding and topsides construction industries worldwide.   Strengths - from concept design/bid to design & build, supervision of Designers/CADs, Field Eng.s, to ISO 9001.  Also strong piping/hydraulics design ability.  Includes AutoCAD from V2.3 to R. 14.

Since completing 5 years in the "Construction Dept." with British Gas ( Southern Region ) in 1985, I have obtained experience in many aspects of Piping Design for the oil and gas industry. I have also had some experience with the production of sugar. Predominately C.A.D. since 1982, although still able to and enjoy producing drawings manually.

Twenty years piping experience of which eighteen has been the design and layout of North Sea Platforms, four years computer experience on the Intergraph 3D P.D.S. and two years on P.D.M.S. Silicon Graphics.
